The Acadians of Saint-Jacques l'Achigan, Québec
In September 1766, a royal proclamation addressed to all seigneurs, with regard to the Acadian refugees, recommended the following*:
care should be given the Acadians
allow them to settle on lands not yet in use in their seigneuries
allow them the best possible conditions
give them necessary provisions for the period of one month.
