Acadians exiled to Virginia in 1755 were refused disembarkation by the governor. Not wanting to accept them, they were then deported to prisons in Britain. When the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1763, these Acadians were repatriated to France.

Meanwhile, some Acadians were deported to France in 1758 from Ile St-Jean [Prince Edward Island] and Ile Royale [Cape Breton]. In 1785, some 1,600 of these Acadians now in France sailed for Louisiana. It is important to note that life went on no matter where the Acadians were sent. Whether imprisoned or repatriated the Acadians married, had children and died. Listed on this page are some LeBlanc births, marriages and deaths that took place in France from 1770-1785.

Where possible, the lineage of these couples has been completed.

*Note #1: Though there were Acadian marriages in the parishes of St-Similien, St-Nicolas, St-Jacques, Ste-Croix, St-Donatien, and St-Léonard in Nantes between 1770-1784, as well as in Paimboeuf, Rezé, and Saint-Sébastien from 1776-1785, only the above LeBlanc marriages took place.

**Note #2: More information on some of these families can be found on the list of Acadians From France to Louisiana on this web site - this lists all of the Acadians who went to Louisiana in 1785 and lists the ship they sailed on.
