ENGLAND

Chatsworth Estates, Devonshire, England - Chatsworth has always been the property of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.
When visiting the huge estate home of the present Duke and his wife, we came across a photo of Kathleen Kennedy of the Massachusetts Kennedy clan. She had married into this family while serving with the American Red Cross during WWII in England. Her husband was in the armed services of England and was next in line to become the Duke of Devonshire however, he died in 1946 a victim of the war. At the time of his death they had been married two years but had no children. Had there been a son born to them or had she been carrying a son when he died, their son would have been the next duke. As fate would have it Kathleen died in a air crash in 1948.

The first Duke of Devonshire was dubbed "duke" by King Henry V for all the help he had given him in attaining the throne. The Duke and his family were the richest family in all of England except for royalty and the families that followed remained the wealthiest for more than two hundred years.

More the Chatsworth Estate - unbelievable gardens and grass that has existed for 300 years. The only time the grass was not mowed was during WWII.
