CMA 1994 - NEW BRUNSWICK

Any world congress has to be a monumental undertaking. Even moreso an ethnic group that saw it's descendants scattered to all the corners of the earth beginning with the Deportation of 1755.

Therefore, it is not surprising that such an undertaking to gather Acadians together from around the world took six years to execute. In 1994 the first CMA was held in southwestern New Brunswick in the region of Moncton.

In all, 9 local municipalities were involved, 60 employees were hired, 80 conferences and 81 family reunions were held, 150 cultural and artistic events took place, and all within the time frame of two weeks! It is estimated that some 3 million dollars was invested into the region by this organization.
